Presently, you must either have or must register a WordPress.com account in order to leave a comment.  It is not necessary to have or to host a WordPress blog in order to register a WordPress account.  When registering, specify “Just a username, please”.  Be sure to enter a your valid email address, as you must validate your registration by clicking on a link in a confirmation email that you will be sent by the WordPress.com server, before you will be allowed to log in and post your comment.

Unless you specifically request otherwise, I may use your comment or a portion of it on a “fair use” basis in a regular public posting – either by itself or in a response, here or in other active forums where I participate.  If you don’t want to be quoted, then either don’t write to me (or don’t post your comment to any publically-accessible forum), or specifically let me know that your correspondance is ”confidential” and for my “eyes only”.
