A reader asks:
“Is the earth 4.5 billion years old or 6 thousands?”
The science of geology indicates through it’s analysis that the earth is very, very old – on the order of millions of years. If you accept that it would take time for stars and planets to coalesce, then the universe itself is naturally much, much older than that.
On the other hand, if you would rather believe that the world was created “as is” 6,000 years ago with millions of years of geologic record in place, in order to “fool” scientists as in some sort of divine joke or for some greater divine purpose – like something out of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To the Galaxy” – then why not?
The sun will still come up tomorrow, and you’ll still put your pants on the same way, regardless. You may even study geology and dinosaur bones, just to “see what God has put out there for us to find”.
One thing for sure, however – is that the only constant in this Creation, is change. Nothing ever stays quite the same for very long.
Even our understanding of Creation is …. shall I say it ? … evolving.
